Biology major, chemistry and sports management minors
Attending Palmer College of Chiropractic doctor of chiropractic programWhat first drew you to St. Norbert College?
I played hockey and that was my first search – Division III schools that had a women’s hockey team. I mainly wanted to go to a school in Wisconsin, but I also looked at a few in New York. When I got to SNC, I was really considering things like the academics, professors, and opportunities for research. I also looked at what was offered for professional development. That was very beneficial. A lot of colleges don’t have these resources. Or they didn’t have them for alumni, which was huge to me. I knew I wanted to go to graduate school and I didn’t know much about writing resumes or cover letters. That was a big perk here.
What led you on your path to becoming a chiropractor?
I had migraines all throughout my teen years. I was trying to go the whole medicine route, and it wasn’t working. So then I went to a chiropractor, and they adjusted me, and suggested I try dry needling. That finally led me to find relief. Ever since, I knew that’s what I wanted to do.
What was your experience like playing hockey here?
I played hockey all four years at SNC and I loved every second of it. The team is amazing. It really brought a good support system. Your teammates will push you because they want the best for you. One benefit of playing here is that all of your professors are very open and willing to work with you. So if you’re missing a class to travel for a game, they welcome you to come to their office and go over whatever you missed.
Is there an accomplishment you’re most proud of?
I’m proud of my time management with everything that I was a part of. Just being a bio major alone, that’s a big time commitment. Pairing that with being on the women’s hockey team in a leadership role was very time-consuming. And I was a part of many different clubs — five, I think. I also had a job here. So just having my time spread across all of those things and being successful with them sets me up for the future in knowing I can do things with confidence.
