St. Norbert College welcomes new faculty

St. Norbert College welcomes the following new faculty and staff members for the

2012-2013 academic year:

Priyanka Basu: Dr. Priyanka Basu joins the St. Norbert College community as Visiting Assistant Professor of Art. Priyanka received her B.S. in Art from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, her M.A. in Art Theory and Criticism from the Art Center College of Design, and an M.A. in Art History from the University of Southern California. She recently received her Ph.D. in Art History from the University of Southern California, specializing in modern German art, the history of art history, and aesthetic theory. Priyanka was granted an Andrew W. Mellon Pre-doctoral Fellowship

and a Fulbright Fellowship.

William Bryan: The college welcomes the return of Mr. Bill Bryan as visiting assistant

professor of chemistry. Bill is an alum of St. Norbert College and received his M.S.

from the University of Oregon. He has extensive industrial experience, most recently

at GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals, and has held various teaching positions through

his career.

Mark Glantz: Dr. Mark Glantz, assistant professor of communication and media

studies, is welcomed into the college community. He joins us from Coker College,

where he most recently served as an assistant professor of communication. Mark

received his B.S. from State University of New York, College at Oneonta, his M.A. from

State University of New York, College at Brockport, and his Ph.D. from the University

of Missouri with areas of specialization of media studies and political communication.

Eric Hagedorn: Mr. Eric Hagedorn joins St. Norbert College as a teaching fellow of

philosophy. A graduate of Iowa State University, Eric received his B.S. with honors in

computer science and philosophy. He went on to receive his M.A. from the University

of Notre Dame, where he is pursuing his Ph.D.

Anders Hendrickson: Originally from Wisconsin, Dr. Anders Hendrickson returns to the

area and the college is pleased to have him join the community as an assistant

professor of mathematics. Anders received his B.A. in mathematics, classics and

philosophy from St. Olaf College and his M.A. and Ph.D. in mathematics from the

University of Wisconsin-Madison. He was most recently an assistant professor of

mathematics at Concordia College in Minnesota.

Sarah Jones: The college welcomes Sarah Jones as visiting assistant professor of

psychology. Sarah received her B.A. from Smith College and her Ph.D. from Duke

University.

Hyang-Sook (Sook) Kim: Dr. (Hyang) Sook Kim joins the college as an assistant

professor of communication & media studies. She received her B.A. and M.A. from

Sogang University in Seoul, South Korea. She then earned a second M.S. from Kansas

State University and her Ph.D. from Penn State University.

Maureen Manion: Dr. Maureen Manion returns to teaching at St. Norbert College as an

adjunct professor of political science. Maureen, a professor emerita of the college,

lives in De Pere with her husband.

Seth Meyer: St. Norbert College welcomes another assistant professor of

mathematics, Dr. Seth Meyer. Seth earned his B.A., magna cum laude, from Carleton

College, and his M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Kaija Mortensen: The college is pleased to welcome Dr. Kaija Mortensen as a teaching

fellow of philosophy, who joins St. Norbert most recently from Davidson College.

Kaija earned her B.A., magna cum laude, from Colorado College and her Ph.D. from

the University of California-Santa Cruz.

Jennifer Nissen: The college welcomes Dr. Jennifer Nissen, who joined the staff as

the assistant director of the Sturzl Center for Community Service and Learning.

Jennifer holds a Ph.D. in educational leadership and policy studies and comes to the

college from Iowa State University, where she served as the coordinator of leadership

and service.


Jamie O'Brien: Dr. Jamie O'Brien began teaching at St. Norbert in January 2012 and

will continue as a visiting assistant professor of business administration for the 2012-
2013 academic year. Recently from Limerick, Ireland, where he studied, taught and

worked in the private sector, Jamie earned his B.B.S. and Ph.D. from the University of

Limerick.

Bruce Robertson: St. Norbert College welcomes Dr. Bruce Robertson as senior director

for counseling and career programs. Bruce earned his B.S. from the University of

Wisconsin-Madison, his M.S. from The Florida State University, and his Ph.D. in clinical

psychology also from The Florida State University. Originally from Green Bay, Bruce is

a licensed psychologist and joins the college from the University of Wisconsin-Green

Bay where he served as a consulting/supervising psychologist.

Marc Schaffer: Dr. Marc Schaffer is welcomed as an assistant professor of economics.

He received his B.A. from Augustana College, and his M.A. and Ph.D. from Western

Michigan University.

John Schatzman: St. Norbert College is pleased to welcome Mr. John Schatzman as

adjunct instructor of social science. John received his B.A. from Marquette University

and his M.A. from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. He joins the college from

Family Services of Northeast Wisconsin, where he continues to be employed.

Keith Sherony: The college is pleased that Dr. Keith Sherony will continue at the

college as a professor of economics. Keith started at the college in the fall of 2011 as

a visiting professor of economics. He received his B.A. from Rosary College, his M.S.

from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale, and his Ph.D. from the University of

Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Keith joined the college from the University of Wisconsin-La

Crosse, where he was part of the faculty starting in 1983.

Anthony Sigismondi: Mr. Anthony Sigismondi joins St. Norbert College as information

literacy and instruction librarian. Anthony received his B.A. and M.A. from Northern

Illinois University, and his A.B.D. in history from the University of Illinois, Urbana-
Champaign.


James Stobaugh: Visiting assistant professor of sociology, James Stobaugh, is

welcomed to the St. Norbert College community. James earned his B.A. from the

University of Hawaii, Manoa; two M.A.s, one from the University of Memphis and the

other from the University of California, Irvine; and his Ph.D. from the University of

California, Irvine.

Bill VanEss: An alum of St. Norbert College and board of trustees member, Mr. Bill

VanEss will also assist the college this year as an adjunct instructor of business

administration. Besides earning his B.A. at St. Norbert, Bill earned his M.B.A. from the

University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, and has several other certificates pertaining to

financial planning. He is a financial advisor and employee benefit specialist as part of

Spectrum Insurance Group.

Michael Weber: Fr. Michael Weber returns to St. Norbert College as an adjunct

instructor of religious studies. Michael is a member of the Norbertine order in De

Pere. He received his B.A. from Southwest State University, his M.Div. and M.A. from

the Catholic Theological Union, his Bachelor of Canon Law from the Catholic

University of America and his Doctor of Ministry from Chicago Theological Seminary,

as well as degrees from the Squadron Officers School, Air Command and Staff

College, and Air War College. Michael served in the United States Air Force as a

chaplain and is recently retired.
