PRESS RELEASE
St. Norbert College to host 2nd annual Winter Wonder Week

St. Norbert College has announced its schedule of events for the second

annual Winter Wonder Week, Feb. 19-25. Winter Wonder Week is a time for

St. Norbert College students, faculty and staff to participate in a wide range

of activities meant to develop a strong community bond.

Winter Wonder Week kicks off Monday, Feb. 19 with a 4:30 p.m. dinner and

5:30 p.m. auction in the Sensenbrenner Memorial Union. Proceeds from the

night will go to the Alya and Leslie Memorial scholarships.

The SNC Idol semi-finals will be held Feb. 20 at 8:30 p.m. in the Ray Van

Den Heuvel Campus Center. The contest will display the best and worst vocal

talent at St. Norbert College. Participants must be registered for Winter

Wonder Week to compete, but attendance is free and open to the public.

On Wednesday, Feb. 21, an Ash Wednesday Mass will be held at 6 p.m. in

Old St. Joseph Church to celebrate the beginning of the Lenten season.

Polar Palooza is set for Thursday, Feb. 22 from 6-10 p.m. in front of the

Campus Center. Teams will build a snow form using twine and pallets for the

Sunday sculpting competition while spectators will be treated to an ice

skating rink, a hot fire and hot chocolate nearby.

The finals of SNC Idol will be held Feb. 23 at 7 p.m. for ten finalists

performing with a live karaoke band in the Campus Center. Admission is free

and open to the public and a cash bar will be available.

On Saturday, Feb. 24, teams of four will compete in a "frozen goose race," in

which three blindfolded members pull a sleigh carrying the fourth person to

different check points. The race will be held on the intramural fields and is

free and open to the public.

The snow sculpting competition will take place on Sunday, Feb. 25, as teams

try to create the biggest and best snow sculptures. The event begins at

10:30 a.m., and judges will declare the winners at 4 p.m. The public is

welcome to attend.

Finally, a Norbertine Plaque Hunt will take place all week until the plaque is

found. A medal of St. Norbert mounted on a plaque will be hidden and

teams will use daily clues to locate it.
