Popular SearchesPRESS RELEASEHeinz Klug to Speak at St. Norbert College as Part of Great Decisions Leacture Series Posted on Mar. 4, 2013Heinz Klug (pronounced "hines-kloog"), professor of law at University of Wisconsin Law
School and an expert in the field of humanitarian actions, will lecture on "Humanitarian
Intervention" as part of the Great Decisions Lecture Series. The lecture will take place on
Wednesday, March 20, at 7:30 p.m. at the Fort Howard Theater in the F. K. Bemis
International Center on the St. Norbert College campus.
Klug is an honorary senior research associate in the School of Law at the University ofthe Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa. He was also a team member on the
World Bank mission to South Africa on land reform and rural restructuring. He will speak
on the topic of intervention by the international community to prevent further violence
and degradation in internal conflicts occurring around the world, and whether this tool
will be effective in the long term.
Great Decisions is a nationwide program meant to bring together local, regional andnational experts in an eight-week lecture series discussing international issues of interest
to the community.
Topics for the series are selected by the Foreign Policy Association of America and areintended to provide a local forum for discussion on current political and economic issues.
The speakers are selected by participating colleges and universities. St. Norbert College
is one of three schools in Wisconsin that present the entire series.
Admission to individual sessions is $5 at the door, and briefing books are available for$18.The briefing book includes background information on the lecture topics and access
to the association's website, http://www.fpa.org, for resources, guides to topics and
online discussion forums.
