The Greening the Bay artist residency will bring nationally recognized interdisciplinary artists

PlantBot Genetics to Green Bay for a three-week residency, from June 9-30. The artists will

host their dynamic Moth Project throughout partner sites in and around Green Bay,

including St. Norbert College on Thursday, June 18. A full list of events and sites for the

Moth Project will be available at http://www.snc.edu/moths.

The project involves a series of portable, artistic garden lights, powered by solar panels,

which are designed to attract moths for pollination. The Moth Project aims to combine art,

sustainability, and entomological and horticultural research. It uses performance, sculpture

and community data-gathering to speak about ecology in general and the importance of

pollinators in particular.

Community members will have the opportunity to engage with the artists of PlantBot

Genetics and their work through exhibitions, demonstrations, multimedia installations and

lectures.

The National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) awarded a grant of $10,000 to St. Norbert

College to support its Greening the Bay artist residency.

Through its grants to thousands of nonprofit organizations each year, the NEA promotes

opportunities for people in communities across America to experience the arts and exercise

their creativity.
