PRESS RELEASE
Discoveries International Student-Run Business at St. Norbert College Raises Money for Charity

The mission each year is clear: Learn how to run a business and raise money for

charity. That's what Discoveries International is all about. The non-profit store is

operated by St. Norbert College international business majors and is dedicated

to importing fair trade products primarily from developing nations. Proceeds

received from the sale of these goods are reinvested in developing countries

through charitable donation.

This year, money raised will go to the Hong Kong Children's Education Fund

and the Seven Loaves Project.

The Children's Education Fund's(CEF) mission is to improve the education

system and to support poor children in rural regions of the Guangxi province.

The CEF was founded in 2001 and since then they have raised $3.2 million USD

and have built 25 Schools and dorms in the rural areas.

The Seven Loaves Project is a small charity based right out of Green Bay, WI.

When J.R. Schoenfeld of Chives Restaurant traveled to Rwanda he was

confronted with a country still recovering from a terrible genocide. Schoenfeld

was so inspired to bring hope to Rwanda in the form of bread, he and his team

traveled to Rwanda to install ovens, provide resources and training. Schoenfeld

also wanted to provide a sustainable lifestyle for villagers. "Give a man a loaf of

bread, and he eats for a day. Teach a man to bake and his village eats for a

lifetime."

Discoveries International, located next to the St. Norbert College Bookstore,

Todd Wehr Hall, is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., on

Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is closed on Sundays.
