When Father James ‘Seamus’ Neilson ’88 first met Shamus – named after him by proud SNC alumni parents – he was reminded how generations of generosity change lives at St. Norbert College. Because of scholarships and supporters like you, Shamus was able to attend SNC, navigate a period of uncertainty related to his career goals, and ultimately discover his purpose. This spring, he graduates with a clear path to serving others – and the confidence to pursue it.

BELONGING. When Shamus questioned his original career goals in law enforcement, he found a sense of belonging at SNC. Surrounded by a supportive community, he was encouraged to explore his interests – and through experiences like debate club, discovered his passion for advancing the common good.

SUPPORT. Thanks to supporters like you, Shamus had access to financial aid and life‑shaping opportunities – from studying abroad in Jordan to internships connected to relief work and politics in Washington, D.C.

CONFIDENCE. This spring, Shamus graduates with a sociology degree, minors in peace and justice and theology, and a pre‑law certificate. He will serve in the Air Force Reserves and attend law school, determined to devote his life to public service.
