Overview

The nutrition major at St. Norbert College prepares students to understand the powerful connections between food, health and human well-being. Grounded in evidence-based science, the program explores the physiological, behavioral, and social dimensions of nutrition while providing hands-on learning through case studies, fieldwork and applied projects. 

Students examine topics ranging from metabolism and micronutrients to food systems, public health and nutrition across the lifespan. Designed to meet growing workforce demand and student interest, the program equips graduates to promote healthy lifestyles, prevent chronic disease and advance health equity in communities around the world.

Academic paths

The nutrition major combines coursework in biology, chemistry, psychology and nutrition science to provide a comprehensive understanding of food, health and disease prevention. Students complete foundational studies in anatomy and physiology, microbiology, genetics, biochemistry, statistics and human development before progressing into specialized nutrition coursework.

This major is offered in a hybrid online format through a consortium of accredited colleges and universities. Instruction is provided by faculty employed by partner institutions, and academic oversight remains with St. Norbert College. Students will register through and receive academic credit from St. Norbert College.

Nutrition graduates are prepared for careers that support individual and community health through evidence-based nutrition practices. The program develops expertise in dietary assessment, health promotion, food systems, wellness programming and disease prevention.
