Laurie MacDiarmid is a professor of English who's intimately involved in writing leadership at SNC as the college’s writer in residence and director of the Writing Center. Her scholarship and creative work focus on issues of identity and relation. Her chapbook of poetry, "Float," explores the joys and challenges of motherhood, while her full-length poetry manuscript, "Consolation Prize," examines memory, family, class, country, gender, sexuality and other crucial markers of identity.

MacDiarmid is a recipient of the Bishop Robert F. Morneau Community Service Award and the Leonard Ledvina Award for Excellence in Teaching.
