PRESS RELEASE
St. Norbert College to Host Peter C. Phan for Pilgrim Forum Lecture Series

St. Norbert College will host Peter C. Phan for its 2018-19 Pilgrim Forum Lecture Series on Thursday, Nov. 29, at 7:30 a.m. in the Hendrickson Dining Room of

the F. K. Bemis International Center on the college’s campus. Doors will open at 7:15 a.m. and a complimentary continental breakfast will be served.

The Pilgrim Forum is a series dedicated to sharing information and spurring thought and discussion around the basic tenets of the Catholic faith and tradition;
specifically, the Apostles’ Creed. Once a semester, speakers examine a portion of the Creed, breaking it open in thought-provoking and accessible ways, which

invites attendees to understand more deeply what they believe.

Phan will explore the creedal passage, “... he ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty …” during his lecture. Phan is

the inaugural holder of the Ignacio Ellacuria Chair of Catholic Social Thought at Georgetown University and holds three doctorates. His research deals with the

theology of icon in Orthodox theology; patristic theology; eschatology; the history of Christian missions in Asia; and liberation, inculturation and interreligious

dialogue. He is the author and editor of more than 30 books and has published more than 300 essays.

Phan’s lecture is free and open to the public, but reservations are required. Reservations can be made by calling 920-403-4034 or by visiting

https://www.snc.edu/pilgrimforum. The registration deadline is Nov. 21.

The Pilgrim Forum is made possible through the generosity of Dan Ritter. In 1988, Ritter created the endowment that has funded the Pilgrim Forum as well as

the Ritter Forum on Public Affairs.
