Topics covered include definitions of disability; an historical overview of social beliefs and practices related to disability in the United States; the impact of disability on schools and other educational institutions; the role of eugenics in social efforts to address disability; the Disability Rights Movement; federal legislation pertaining to disability; and extensive exploration of the voices of persons with disabilities and their views on the treatment of the disabled in American society.
