Corrections in Americn Society

This course focuses on society’s organized response to individuals accused or convicted of criminal offenses. Students in the course will study (a) the philosophy, theory, and practice of corrections systems and strategies for adults and juveniles, (b) empirical research on the effectiveness of various corrections strategies and (c) contemporary challenges and debates about corrections practices in the United States.
