Health Psychology

This course is designed to examine the interrelationship of psychological and physical well-being. It will explore the main ideas of health psychology from a biopsychosocial model, which accounts for the complex ways that biology, behavior, beliefs, emotions, the social environment, and culture all interact to increase our risk of illness or helps us to remain healthy. Topics covered include health-promoting behaviors and primary prevention, health-compromising behaviors, stress and coping, and behavioral factors that contribute to a variety of diseases. Different research methodologies in conducting health research will also be analyzed.
