Advice for writers
Even if you don't particularly have a passion for what you are writing about, find something to connect you to the paper. The more you care about a paper, the more time and effort you put into it, and the better it will be.
How do you get started on a writing assignment?
I always start out by reading the assignment sheet so I know what the professor expects. Then, I brainstorm possible topics and choose the one I like best. From there I conduct any research that needs to be done and just start writing, even if I don't have a set structure, so I can get my ideas on paper.
