Applying to SNC as a transfer student

We’re thrilled that you’re considering St. Norbert College as the next step in your college experience. No matter what led you to SNC, we’re ready to welcome you into our community. Here's what a few of our transfer students have said about coming here:

“While it was nice to try something new, SNC simply feels like home. It’s a place where I can be my authentic self, and have the resources and community to try new things and further my education.” - Tyler Kasper ’27 (read more)

“I liked the thought of going to a Catholic school, going to a school that had smaller class sizes. I would get to work with my professors. And when I first was going to apply to St. Norbert, I remember calling the admission office and just asking some questions, and when I called back a week later they knew exactly who I was. It floored me. So that was a sign for me, like this is going to be more of a home feel.” - Hunter Van Asten ’19

“I transferred here from the University of Minnesota after taking a semester off. I’m from De Pere so when I originally looked at colleges, I was not going to consider St. Norbert. It was too close to home! Looking back, I was kind of foolish for not looking here because I’ve had a great experience.” - Katie Hopkins ’19

Why transfer to SNC?

This is this big one as a transfer student, isn’t it? If you’re wary of going through the whole “new kid” thing again, that’s understandable. But know this: SNC is a friendly, welcoming place. Students look out for one another. They’re kind. You’ll thrive here in De Pere, from Day One.

As Tyler Kasper ’27 shares about SNC, “It’s a place where I can be my authentic self, and have the resources and community to try new things and further my education.” Read more about his transfer experience here.

When we assign you to housing, we’ll match you up with students in your own class year – first-year students with other first-years, sophomores with sophomores, etc.

We have more than 30 different majors and more than 80 programs of study. If you don’t find a major you like, you can even create your own. Whatever degree program you choose, keep in mind you’ll be learning in small classes from professors who love to teach.

We have roughly 100 student clubs and organizations, spanning the gamut from academic to service to recreation to diversity organizations. If you’d like to start a new one, we’ll make it easy!

As for athletics, SNC is a Division III college with 27 intercollegiate teams, so if you maintain at least a 2.0 GPA, you’re eligible to participate.

If you are a little bit competitive, we also offer a popular intramural sports program — nearly 800 students participated last year.

Depending on where you are in terms of credits earned and remaining, there’s a good chance you can stay on track for a timely graduation. We’ll work with you to make it happen; we’re committed to helping you manage both the time and cost of college.

If you haven’t toured our campus in De Pere, Wis. before, or if you’re a returning visitor, we’d love to show you around and share why SNC is a college like no other. We strongly recommend that you apply before you visit. That way, an admission counselor can have a detailed discussion with you about how you can achieve your goals with an SNC degree.

How to apply for admission

Applying is easy for transfer students! SNC has rolling admissions, so you can apply at any point during the academic year.

First, submit the SNC application.

Then, we’ll need a copy of your high school transcript, as well as official college transcripts from all of the post-secondary institutions that you’ve attended. Contact the schools and ask them to send your transcripts to us — they’ll know what to do.

After we receive all of your information, we’ll process your application and do a preliminary review of your transcripts. We try not to keep you waiting, so you should hear from us within a few weeks.

You’ll receive an unofficial credit evaluation upon admission to SNC. After you’re accepted, we’ll work with you to evaluate your transferable courses and make sure you get the credits that you deserve.
