Ryan King is an associate professor of biology at St. Norbert College with a special interest in the ability of some animals to regenerate lost tissues and organs following injury. His lab uses planarians as a model to explore the genes required for regeneration and function of the excretory system. He and his students use gene knockdown and gene expression techniques to test the requirements of specific genes in regeneration and organ system function.
