Dr. Jim Neuliep is Professor of Communication and Media Studies. He joined the St. Norbert College faculty in 1985. During his tenure at St. Norbert College, Dr. Neuliep has been awarded the Leonard Ledvina Award for Excellence in Teaching, the Donald B. King Distinguished Scholar Award, the Outstanding Advisor to a Student Organization Award, and the Wisconsin Academic Advising Association's Faculty Advising Excellence Award.
Jim has presented dozens of papers at national and international conferences,
published dozens of articles in academic journals, and published seven books.
His most current book, Intercultural
Communication: A Contextual Approach (Sage Publications, 2017) is now in
its 7th edition and is used in university and college classrooms across the
United States and abroad and is regarded as a best seller among intercultural
communication textbooks.
Jim is the past editor of the Journal of Intercultural Communication Research.
He is also past chair of the Intercultural Communication Division of the
International Communication Association.
Jim currently sits on seven editorial boards, including Communication Reports,
International Encyclopedia of Intercultural Communication, Human Communication,
Journal of International and Intercultural Communication, Journal of
Intercultural Communication Research, International Journal of Intercultural
Relations, and the International Journal of Society, Culture, and Language.
In his leisure time, he enjoys working out, cooking, and exploring the world of
wine.
