Humans of St. Norbert:
“I have always really loved bees. So when my husband wanted to keep bees, I was just totally into it because I’ve just always loved them as creatures, the way they move. You know, they’re pretty fascinating and the honey is nice, but it’s not the thing that is most interesting to me about the bees. It’s how they work and how they operate as a single organism. It’s sort of fascinating. When bees swarm, you can stand in them and they will not bug you. They are very docile and they’re just following the queen and it’s amazing. It’s a very cool experience. It’s definitely this idea of the super organism, or many individual organisms working as a whole.
“The bee is also a pollinator, an important pollinator, and we need those right now. That’s one of the major reasons we keep bees, we’re trying to do a little bit of something to help with that situation. ” – Shan Bryan-Hanson, director and curator of art galleries and collections
