Humans of St. Norbert:

“Being a theater major you have to do this thing called a production lab, so whenever I say I have a lab it’s not science, it’s theater stuff. For the first round of production, we were going to do a live performance and then COVID really ruined that. At that point, I had already moved home because of all my classes being online so I drove up two days a week for rehearsal. The professors were all super accommodating with me not being on campus. I did miss some opportunities because of this but I did get to make them up later, I just wasn't able to do them with my class in person.

“[The class recorded] every skit and commercial for the production and then they put it in an hour and a half to two hour long show ... kinda like an SNL episode, but everything recorded. It was weird because we filmed it onstage with stage lights on and I haven't felt that heat on my face in so long. Stage lights were on, house lights were off so it was that same kind of feeling where you can't see anything but you know people are watching you. So I still got those onstage tingles.

“I'm so excited to have just performed more than anything else. Part of me just wanted it to be over and then part of me was like, 'I can't believe we've done all this in such a short time.' But most of all I knew I wanted to do this 8,000 more times. I wished that it was live because audience interaction, for me, is the best thing in the world. You can really build your energy off of the audience's energy. It was harder in that sense because it was just us talking. There was no other noise, no laughter, no clapping or anything. I can't wait for the day when we are able to have in person audiences again.” – Molly Kubica ’23
