Make the Most of Your Labor Day Weekend

Looking for something to do this Labor Day Weekend? We have compiled a list of ideas to help you make this holiday weekend a memorable one.

1. Visit Door County
Take a day trip to enjoy nature and snap amazing outdoorsy pictures at Cave Point County Park, or take a stroll through the Door County Maritime Museum in Sturgeon Bay. Experience some unique art pieces at the Edgewood Orchard Galleries where you can enjoy art and the outdoors at the same time! Make the day trip your own and you’ll return to campus with a wealth of memories.

2. Take a Trip to Bay Beach
Take a trip to Bay Beach Amusement Park for a day of fun rides and delicious food. Most rides are $.25 each and require just one or two tickets.

3. Visit the Animals at the Wildlife Sanctuary or NEW Zoo and Adventure Park
Visit the Wildlife Sanctuary, an urban wildlife refuge featuring live animal exhibits, educational displays, miles of hiking trails and various wildlife-viewing opportunities. Another animal-focused alternative is the NEW Zoo and Adventure Park. Both are located 25 minutes from campus.

4. Get Something to Eat With Friends
De Pere is known for its delicious food locations. There is The Abbey, Stella’s, Nicky’s, Pasquale’s, Nicolet, Julie’s Café, Brickhouse and so much more. View more area restaurants.

5. Time for Dessert? Grab a Sweet Treat!
If you have room for a treat after dinner or you just want a sweet snack, De Pere has a handful of places for you to enjoy. Grab a cone at the campus’s favorite custard place, Zesty’s Frozen Custard & Grill. Choose from a wide range of chocolate treats and homemade candies at Seroogy’s Chocolate, just across the river from campus. Want something a bit healthier? Check out Bona Fide Juicery for a healthy, but yummy, smoothie bowl or freshly pressed juice.

6. Walk or Bike on the Fox River Trail
Take in the beauty of the Fox River via the De Pere Riverwalk and Wildlife Viewing Pier or the Fox River Trail. Make a pit stop at Voyageur Park for a break before heading back to campus.

7. Head to the Farmer’s Market
Downtown Green Bay hosts a wonderful farmer’s market on weekends during the summer months. Don’t miss out on one of the last opportunities of the season to check out all the vendors and experience the live bands, great food and drinks, and much more.

8. Relax on the Docks
The docks are the best place to relax. Grab some food from Phil’s and catch some rays!

9. Take Advantage of the Sales
Labor Day weekend is full of great deals in stores! Visit the Downtown De Pere or Bay Park Square Mall for a wide selection of shops or take a trip to the On Broadway district in Green Bay.

10. Soak Up the Sun
It looks like it’s going to be a beautiful weekend so you might also like to head to the beach. We recommend Neshotah Beach, a 50-acre groomed sand beach located on Lake Michigan in neighboring Two Rivers (about a 60 min. drive). If the sun isn’t your thing, check out the historic De Pere Cinema is located just over the bridge. Bay Park Cinema is located 10 min. from campus at the Bay Park Square Mall. Visit their websites for showtimes.
