Nine Things to Know About Campus Life
There are so many services and opportunities available at St. Norbert and in the surrounding community that it can be easy to overlook some very helpful ones. Here are nine you should know about.
Convenient hair care
Knight Fadez is an on-campus barbershop open to all students, although it’s an initiative to support students of color. Barbers from local business Starz Barber & Beauty come to campus every other Monday to perform scissor cuts, lining, fades and more on students who signed up the prior week. Infinity Hair Salon, a few blocks from campus, is a salon popular among students, faculty and staff.
Birthday deliveries
Want to send a cupcake or cake to your student on their birthday? The Cupcake Couture and Uncle Mike’s Bake Shoppe both create delectable sweets and offer delivery services. At The Cupcake Couture, you can order scratch-made cupcakes in both standard and inventive flavors – think carrot cake, peanut butter cup, tiramisu and strawberry pretzel. Uncle Mike’s Bake Shoppe is famed for its Kringle, especially the sea salt caramel pecan, but also sells cakes, cookies, pies, breads and more.
Mental health services
SNC’s Counseling and Psychological Services offers a wealth of services for students, all of which are covered by the student health fee. There’s individual and group counseling, counseling workshops, women-specific groups, biofeedback, yoga and mindfulness sessions, and more.
Shuttle service and Alertus app
Campus Safety operates a daily shuttle service from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. when classes are in session during the fall and spring semesters. Students can request a shuttle by calling 920-422-RIDE. In addition, SNC offers students the Alertus Mobile Safety app, through which they can text or call Campus Safety to share crime tips and safety concerns, plus request a safety escort outside of shuttle hours.
Physicals
Did your student forget to schedule an athletics physical over the summer? Health Services offers physicals performed by an advanced provider, not a nurse. The $60 fee is courtesy-billed to your insurance carrier, so make sure Health Services has your current insurance information on file.
Printing services
Students can use the campus Digital Print Center for short, personal projects. Payment is by cash.
Vaccinations
No need for your student to wait until Long Weekend or Thanksgiving to receive their influenza vaccine. These can be obtained at Health Services free of charge for students.
Vehicle assistance
Campus Safety is available to help students with jump-starts and flat tires, and can provide information about local businesses providing towing and auto lock-out services.
Writing Center services
The Writing Center helps students in bettering their research and writing skills, whether they’re working on a research paper, lab report, journal assignment, business case study, etc.
