A Message from President Joyner
One of the pleasures of belonging to a college community is that there is always — and I mean always — something interesting going on. A story to be told. An achievement to celebrate. I’m happy to share just a few of those with you here.
The first concerns the inaugural Dr. Benjamin T. Chu Distinguished Lecture, established by Dr. Ben Chu ’55 to invite noteworthy scientists to discuss the roles of faith and reason in their lives. Inspiring, too, is the story about an NFL player who shared lessons on resilience with our student-athletes.
Then there’s a story you will appreciate as being pure SNC. It’s about a young woman in our graduating class who, having survived cancer herself, gave thanks by volunteering on a service trip to help young patients in a Tennessee hospital.
Finally, I should point you to the story about Preserving the St. Norbert Legacy: A Shared Promise of Stewardship 2024. This is the roadmap put together by college leadership to address the challenges and headwinds facing higher-ed institutions today. I’m confident the plan will put us on the path to good financial health and a thriving future.
That future couldn’t be more important. As these stories and countless others illustrate, St. Norbert College’s mission continues to inspire, to matter, and to prepare students for lives of meaning and purpose. It is a joy to witness.
Gratefully,
Laurie M. Joyner
