Dorothy Day's Granddaughter to Lead Book Discussion at St. Norbert College
Kate Hennessy will lead two discussion sessions about her book, "Dorothy Day: The World Will Be Saved by Beauty," on Thursday, Feb. 23, from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. and from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Both discussions will take place in the presentation room of the Mulva Library on the St. Norbert College campus. Both sessions are free and open to the public, but are limited to 50 people per session. Registration is required at http://www.snc.edu/millercenter.
Hennessy, Dorothy Day's youngest granddaughter, is a writer who attended New York University and the School for International Living in Vermont. She has worked as an international summer camp counselor in the former USSR, and as an ESL (English as a Second Language) teacher in Guatemala and to Tibetan refugees in India.
Day, who died in 1980, was a journalist, editor, anti-war activist and women's rights advocate who converted to Catholicism later in life and used her new faith as a vantage point for her activism. She also co-founded "The Catholic Worker" newspaper in 1933 that spawned the Catholic Worker movement.
