Sami Rasouli lecture "Iraq Today: An Eyewitness Report" at St. Norbert College
St. Norbert College's Peace and Justice Center will present Sami Rasouli's lecture "Iraq Today: An Eyewitness Report" on Wednesday, Dec. 2 at 7:30 p.m. in Fort Howard Theater, Bemis International Center. Artwork from Iraq will be on display and will be sold to raise money for continuing human rights efforts in Iraq.
Rasouli, an Iraqi-American with dual citizenship, will speak about the situation of Iraq today, the prospects for U.S. withdrawal and substantive change in U.S. policy toward Iraq, the Muslim Peacemaker Teams, the Iraqi Art Project, the Sister City Project, Water for Peace, and Letters for Peace.
After leaving Iraq in the late 1970s, Rasouli has lived in the Twin Cities area for more than 17 years. Following the 2003 invasion and occupation of Iraq, he founded and supported the development of the Muslim Peacemaker Teams, groups dedicated to the principles of non-violence. He will return to Iraq in January to continue his work.
