
SNC Day: Wonder Crew Midwest Launch

Laurel Wider is the Founder and CEO of Wonder Crew – dolls inspired by boys. Her work in the field of psychotherapy, as well as being a mother, formulated her belief it was time to move beyond gender stereotypes and address the developmental needs of the whole child. Wonder Crew combines the adventure of an action figure with the emotional connection of a favorite stuffed animal. Its aim is to empower all kids to see themselves as connected, creative and strong individuals with the ability to go anywhere and be anything. Wider graduated from NYU in 2003 and has been a psychotherapist in private practice for 12 years, with specialties in gender, relationships and identity formation.
Description: Midwest toy launch of Wonder Crew, a line of Crewmates targeted to boys with the “adventure of an action figure plus the emotional connection of a favorite stuffed animal.”
- 10 a.m. Founder & CEO Laurel Wider livestreamed on Conversations from St. Norbert College, Mulva Library.
- 11 a.m. Wonder Crew toy presentation and demo at the Cassandra Voss Center. Wider will discuss the development of healthy masculinity and how Wonder Crew encourages boys to show “kindness, empathy, feelings, and the value of relationships.” Sponsored by Immel Construction, in partnership with the Cassandra Voss Center & Schneider School of Business.
