What: "Caritas" (which translates to "the Christian love of humankind") is a retreat experience rooted in Catholic social teaching and spirituality. Retreatants will ground themselves in the Word and consider, through prayer and encounter, the ways the Gospel calls them to care for the poor and vulnerable and challenge their understanding of what it means to be part of the Body of Christ. This retreat experience is open to all current SNC students, of any faith tradition.

When: Friday, February 25 - Saturday, February 26, 2022

Objectives: At the end of this retreat experience, students will have had the opportunity to:

  1. Reflect on the Gospel call to “feed the hungry, clothe the naked, give water to the thirsty, and to care for the most vulnerable in our society: the orphan, widow, and stranger” (Matthew 25:35-46; Isaiah 1) through the engagement in various styles of prayer from the Catholic spiritual tradition (including Lectio Divina and Ignatian Contemplation).
  2. Consider their comfort and growth/stretch zones as they reflect together on the Body of Christ.
  3. Experience/Encounter others through acts of charity.
  4. Dialogue with community partners about how they engage in acts of justice through their work.
  5. Reflect on their experience/encounters individually, in small groups, and as a whole group.

Cost: Free

Register: Registration is now open until February 21. 12 spots available.
