Let’s face it: Some of your classmates just aren’t the adventurous type.
They already know where they’re going to go to college. You know where they’re going to go. Everybody else knows, too, because they made up their minds in second grade. Their lives are all planned out.
Yawn.
You, on the other hand, might be cut from a different cloth. Maybe you are the adventurous type. Maybe having a “comfort zone” makes you uncomfortable.
If that’s the case, then you need to look north. To De Pere, Wisconsin, where you’ll find a school not all of your friends are going to pick.
Their loss. Because St. Norbert College is a great, great college, where we turn out world-changers year after year after year. And a good number of them happen to come from Illinois.
You’d like it here. Gorgeous campus. Outstanding academics, taught by – and this is key – professors who actually care whether you learn something or not. Twenty-three varsity teams that just keep winning and winning. Great, state-of-the-art facilities. (How great? A big-time medical school moved into our new science building. How great? The competition pool in our new fitness center has a view of the river. How great? We don’t have one theatre on campus, we have three. Ditto for art galleries. Ditto for places to eat – and we’re ranked fourth in the entire country for our food.)
Ample opportunities to do research with professors, starting practically the minute you get here. A community of real nice people, from the student body to the president’s office. A river – but we mentioned that already. About 100 student organizations. More than 80 programs of study. A couple of buildings on the National Register of Historic Places. Friends you’ll keep for life. Super-generous scholarships.
We place our graduates in the best companies and grad schools. We’re knocking on the door of the top 100 colleges in the country, having moved up almost forty spots in ten years. (That’s virtually impossible to do.)
When you close your eyes and picture what college should be, that picture is going to look a lot like St. Norbert College.
Shock your classmates: Apply. They probably won’t … but they’re not you.
