Seven Set For Induction Into St. Norbert Athletics Hall of Fame October 14

DE PERE - The St. Norbert College Department of Intercollegiate Athletics 2018 Hall of Fame Class will be inducted Saturday, October 14 on campus.
Inductees are Katie (Carrier) Astrauskas (women's volleyball), Casey Meehan (football), Gaylene (Nash) Rhoden (women's track and field), Kevin O'Malley (football), Aaron Sunday (men's tennis and soccer), Ryan Tew (men's hockey) and Bethani (Hyska) Thibodeau (women's basketball and volleyball).
Astrauskas, a 2002 graduate, was a four-year letterwinner in women's volleyball from 1998 to 2001. A four-time All-Midwest Conference selection, she was the MWC Player of the Year in 1998. Astrauskas was the first player in NCAA Division III history to have at least 2,000 career kills and 2,000 career digs, and as of 2016 is one of only two players to have achieved the milestone.
Meehan, a 2006 graduate, was a four-year letterwinner in football from 2002 to 2005. A first-team All-MWC choice at running back in 2004 and 2005, he is St. Norbert's all-time leading rusher with 3,240 yards. He is also the only St. Norbert player to have scored 50 touchdowns and 300 points in his career, and is the only Green Knight to have scored 25 touchdowns in a single season. Meehan played in the 2005 Aztec Bowl.
Rhoden, a 1994 graduate, was a four-year letterwinner in women's track and field from 1991 to 1994. She was St. Norbert's first NCAA indoor track and field All-American in a running event when she placed third in the 800-meter run in 1994. A seven-time MWC champion, she won four consecutive 800-meter titles at the outdoor championships.
O'Malley, a 2003 graduate, was a four-year letterwinner in football from 1999 to 2002. He was a first-team All-America selection at offensive tackle by the American Football Coaches Association and Football Gazette in 2002, and played in the Aztec Bowl that December. A three-time first-team All-MWC selection, the Green Knights won conference championships in each of his four seasons.
Sunday, a 2007 graduate, was a four-year letterwinner in men's tennis from 2004 to 2007 and was a two-year letterwinner in men's soccer from 2003 to 2004. He qualified for the 32-player NCAA Division III singles championship in 2006 and 2007, finishing his career with a 102-10 singles record. The only player in MWC history to win four conference titles at the No. 1 flight, he was a two-time Academic All-America selection.
Tew, a 2005 graduate, was a four-year letterwinner in men's hockey from 2002 to 2005. He was a first-team All-America selection by the American Hockey Coaches Association as a defenseman in both 2004 and 2005. Tew was also a second-team All-America choice in 2003 and was a three-time first-team All-Northern Collegiate Hockey Association selection.
Thibodeau, a 1998 graduate, was a four-year letterwinner in women's volleyball from 1994 to 1997 and a three-year letterwinner in women's basketball from 1995 to 1998. She was a two-time first-team All-MWC selection in basketball in 1997 and 1998 and a first-team All-MWC choice in volleyball in 1997. Thibodeau also coached the St. Norbert volleyball team from 2008 to 2004, posting a 158-71 record with three MWC titles.
The Class of 2018 brings the total enshrined in the St. Norbert Athletics Hall of Fame at 146 persons. The Hall of Fame Induction Banquet will be held on the evening of Saturday, October 14 at 7 p.m. (6 p.m. cocktails) in the Michels Ballroom on the St. Norbert campus.
