Green Knights to Face Ohio Wesleyan in NCAA Opener

DE PERE - St. Norbert College will face Ohio Wesleyan University in its first-round NCAA Division III Midwest Regional Tournament game Friday at Illinois Wesleyan University's Shirk Center in Bloomington, Ill.

St. Norbert (24-1) will face the Battling Bishops (20-7) at 5:30 p.m. Friday. Illinois Wesleyan (23-4) will face Webster University (20-7) in the regional's other game at 7:30 p.m. Friday. Saturday's championship game is set for 7 p.m.

St. Norbert is making its fourth NCAA Division III Tournament appearance in five years and its sixth overall. The Green Knights won the Midwest Conference regular-season and tournament championships and carry a school-record 22-game winning streak into the NCAA Tournament. St. Norbert, which lost to Wheaton College 59-58 in a first-round NCAA Tournament game last season, is 2-5 all-time in the tournament.

Ohio Wesleyan is making its fifth NCAA Division III Tournament appearance and its third straight. The Battling Bishops finished in a tie for second place in the North Coast Athletic Conference and were an at-large selection into the tournament. Ohio Wesleyan, which won the 1988 national title, is 8-3 all-time in the tournament. Ohio Wesleyan advanced to the second round last season where it lost 84-81 to Cabrini College.

Illinois Wesleyan is making its 23rd NCAA Division III Tournament appearance, and is 49-22 all-time in the tournament. Webster is making its fourth NCAA Division III Tournament appearance and is 0-3 all-time in the tournament.
