DE PERE - St. Norbert College got an overtime goal from Kurt Black to gain a 2-1 overtime win over Manhattanville College in a non-conference game at Cornerstone Community Center.
The Green Knights (7-0-1), ranked No. 1 in the USCHO.com and D3hockey.com Division III polls, earned a hard-fought series win after tying Manhattanville (3-2-2) by a 2-2 score Friday.
St. Norbert went on the power play in overtime after the Valiants' Matt Lippa was cited for grasping the facemask. Black then scored his second goal of the season with just 15 seconds left in the power play, finishing the game at 3:10 of the extra period off assists from Roman Uchyn and Riley Christensen.
Neither team scored or committed a penalty in the first period, and that held true until each team committed a penalty in the last four minutes of the second period. The game remained scoreless through 40 minutes.
St. Norbert broke through with a goal at 11:13 of the third period when Steven Phillips scored off a Dominick Sacco assist. Manhattanville responded moments later when Taylor Bommarito scored unassisted at 14:09.
The Green Knights held a 36-22 shots edge, including 16-9 in the third period and 7-0 in overtime. St. Norbert was 1-for-2 on the power play, while Manhattanville was 0-for-2.
T.J. Black made 21 saves for the Green Knights, while Tyler Feaver made 34 stops for the Valiants.
